Landon Lacrosse 14 Winston Churchill 4

For the 6th time this season the Bears faced an undefeated time, for the 8th time in the 2017 campaign Landon played a team ranked in the WaPo top 10 at the time of the game, for the 4th time the opponents’ mascot was a bulldog and for the 3rd time the competitor was the dominant public high school in its league. The results were repetitious, the Landon team won. This time it was a 14-4 victory over the undefeated, multiple MoCo champions.

The starters and a sprinkling of developing players were successful on O and on D. WCHS was frustrated in their clearing, defense and offense. Landon scored the first twelve goals.

HALFTIME         BEARS 12 BULLDOGS 0

The next 24 minutes provided an opportunity for Landon’s depth to test themselves against the opponents 1st string and they fared well. These Bears do not get a lot of time in practice as units and they were playing against several college-bound WCHS players. The opponents were able to score only two goals during period three—at 9:23 and at 8:50.

END OF 3RD Q BEARS 12 BULLDOGS 2

An EMO goal was the home team’s 3rd goal.

The young Bears showed great promise as a brilliant pass from Will Carlson to a cutting Charles Nagel for a talented goal @ 10:72. Another Bulldog penalty gave the Bears a man up opportunity and Brett Gallagher buried an 8-yard blast @ 5:27 for goal 14.

The Bulldogs registered their 4th goal at 4:54.
