Landon Lacrosse 15 Robinson 9

The WaPo #9 Rams arrived at Bordley Stadium at Triplett Field late due to traffic, but they quickly planted their Rams flag on the sidelines with all of their league and state championships. Neither the rain nor the Bears’ initial surge dampened their boisterous spirits. Eventually, however, the home team’s depth eventually prevailed.

It was senior day and the pregame ceremony honored the seniors and their parents:

  • Colin O’Brien
  • Ryan Pride
  • Shane Corcoran
  • Nate Buller
  • Will Powell
  • Paul Kern
  • Andrew Fowler
  • Will Oliver
  • Sean Feldman
  • Justin Shockey
  • Cam James
  • Michael Abizaid
  • Will Smith
  • Colby Camalier
  • Will Amoroso
  • Thomas Halm

All contributed to the team’s success and all who could play, did play against the Rams.

The Bears who had been waiting for their guests greeted them with a string of 4 goals:

Player                 Assist                  Time          Notes

T Halm                Joey Epstein       9:33            blast from the wing off od feed

John Geppert               —                8:46            fast break

Justin Shockey             —                8:40            FOnoGO, scores 0:06 later

Nate Buller                    T Halm       7:50            feed to the wing

The Rams persisted and posted their own 4 goal streak—at 6:04, 5:03, 3:48 and 1:15.

Nate followed with the next goal, his 2nd, with a 7 yard rip @0:14.2

END OF 1ST Q BEARS 5 RAMS 4

The Rams equalized with their 5th goal at 11:42.

Joey E, working behind the goal (another place called X), found Nate on the crease and he buried the ball @9:33. The Rams retaliated with their Michael Sowers doppelgänger (even wears #22) scoring at 7:32.

The Landon D had had enough; long poles Cam James (2 CTs, 2 GBs) and Doug Chirite (3 CTs, 2 GBs) created havoc within their D zone. From 7:32 of Q2 until 8:35 of Q4, the visitors did not crease the goal.

Conversely, the home O made three consecutive deposits in the Ram goal

Player                 Assist                  Time          Notes

Zach Johnson     Joey E                 5:12            EMO; #4 ripped the nets

John                     —                         3:59            Deke, dodge and score

Jace Menendez  Gilbert Sentimore 1:16

HALFTIME BEARS 9 RAMS 6

The Bear teacher/coach/mentor eight-headed consortium must have inspired? I

nstructed? convinced? their charges to up their effort? remember the game plan? do what they were told; for the home team tallied the next 6 goals (all of the scores for this period by all teams). To wit:

Player                 Assist                  Time          Notes

Joey E                 —                         11:45          from behind

Nate                     —                         11:15          intercepted clearing pass

Joey E                 —                         10:24          another 1v1 move

Joey E                 —                7:08            again

Nate                     Will Carlson 6:59          F/O win, pass to Will, feed to Nate

John                    Joey E        1:21            big shot

END OF 3RD Q BEARS 15 RAMS 6

The last twelve minutes were devoted to getting the “gerbils” [A TERM OF ENDEARMENT] experience against a good team. The entire healthy roster played and had their abilities tested by the opponents’ best. The Rams scored three goals (at 8:35, 7:49 and 5:57), much to the pleasure of the Robinson fans.
