Landon 0 Riverdale Baptist 33

Bad news—the Crusaders have

  • 9 players with offers from Div. I schools (most FBS)
  • 6 lineman over 250# and one GT 300#
  • an O line averaging 271, which is about the weight of Landon’s biggest player. The next two Bears of stature are 30# and 40 # lighter
  • Maryland’s Head Coach came to the game with one of his top recruiting assistants  to check out both teams, but the Crusaders held the only UMd offers

Those are factors which strongly show that the Bears played against a larger, highly recruited roster. The Crusaders’ blue & gold uniforms, their size and speed plus their play are all reminiscent of the team from Potomac.

Good news:

  • The Landon D held the visitors to 6 points in the second half, both FGs
  • Joey Epstein blocked a PAT attempt and recorded a couple of TFLs plus he led the O in rushing yards
  • Aaron Broner, the senior kicker, delivered a TD saving tackle, bringing down the elusive Crusader and defeating an RBS blocker
  • The Landon O moved the ball for several series of greater than 7 plays; Bear blockers and runners could advance the line of scrimmage
  • This is the last game which Landon will play against the Crusaders
