Getting back into the academic calendar rhythm, here is the first summary of Varsity and Alumni Fall Sports.

HEADLINES:

  • Varsity teams are moving into the early season—water polo, cross country and football lead the way
  • Nine Bear Alumni football players had games this week Padalino and Williams Spiders beat UVA plus Simms tackled an Aggie for the Ducks
  • Four Bear Alumni played in soccer matches.
  • Sprint Football and Water Polo Bears will start their college seasons soon.
  • Our Bear professional ice hockey player is off to the Wild camp.

WITHIN THE WHITE ROCKS

Few current Bears know that there was a time when a teacher disciplined a student one form of getting the malfeasant’s attention was time spent painting the rocks which decorate the school’s roads. In invoking the “White Rocks” phrase it seemed appropriate to have the above picture to remind the current Bears of the true significance of these alabaster boulders.

Coach Bartman’s capped swimmers went to play in a tough Philadelphia tournament where they were 1-3. Gonzaga this week.

Matt Underhill (L13) K, Joe Gagnon (L13) DL, Washington & Lee Generals, loss 29-45 JHU, both Bears played, Matt 3/3 on PATs, 4K/Os ave., 56.0 yds, 1 tackle! (Will Snyderwine would be proud)

Mark Ebo, (L16), DL, College of the Holy Cross Crusaders (1-0), win over Morgan State 51-24

Keith Simms, (L16), LB, University of Oregon Ducks (1-0) win 53-28 over UC Davis, played and made a tackle

Jacob Wright, (L16),  Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops (0-1) 0-56

Charles Branche III (L16), Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops, 2-0, the freshman has worked hard to recover from last year’s ACL injury and is pleased to be on OWU’s roster.
