walked into Bordley Stadium with resolve to reverse last year’s loss to the Bears. The younger Bears worked hard and but for several small mistakes, the result might have been different.

 

For the initial sixteen minutes, the home team was able to contain the visitors. Landon scored first on a pass by Drennan Greene from behind to Griffin Brown, who received the ball and shot @7:58. The black uniformed team responded with a goal at 0:07.4.

Griffin B regained the lead with a goal @10:53.

 

The remainder of this second period involved six consecutive Purple goals – 4 by their senior captain (plus an assist)

 

HALFTIME PURPLE EAGLES 7 BEARS 2

 

The visitors’ eight goal was scored at 10:32. On a fast break, John Geppert fed Griffin B who got a goal @ 6:18. The black jerseys put two more into the Bears’ goal.

 

The white jerseys started a run with a superb Ryan Pride pass to a Drennan on the crease @3:50. Justin Shockey beat his opponent at the X, sprinted towards the goal and buried Landon’s 5th goal @ 3:42.

An early strike created some optimism among the fans. This time Griffin found Ryan who reduced the margin by one. The visitors quickly retaliated with two goals one at 4:58 and the second at 2:41 (an EMO goal).

 

The Landon Senior Captain was not willing to concede this game and within a minute and three quarters he scored three goals: #11 found the back of the Gonzaga goal @ 1:43, @ 0:47 and @0:40. With the home goalie out of his crease in an effort to regain possession, the visitors added a 13th tally.
