Good news, bad news- Patrick Giles is selected to play with the US U17 National Team

NTDP Announces 2016-17 U.S. National U17 Team Roster

Patrick Giles (Chevy Chase, Md.) suited up for the Baltimore Skipjacks 16U program in 2015-16. The forward netted 11 goals and dished out 14 helpers in 30 USPHL contests. Giles is committed to Boston College. #22 played for the Landon Bears in their IAC, MAPHL and WaPO #1season with his brother Logan.

 

Congratulations Patrick—show ‘em how good hockey is in the DMV. THAT’S A BEAR!!!

 

BASEBALL

The 5-1 team beat SSSA 7-0 and then lost their 1st game 1-3 to the Saints both in Alexandria.

 

FENCING

GOLF

 

Bears beat StA 205 to 220.  Next week is a big week for the Bears, they play Episcopal on Monday at Bethesda, on Tuesday a tournament at Congressional and on Wednesday Gonzaga at Lake Presidential

 

LACROSSE

 

The Bears are 11-1. On Tuesday they beat MIAA Mt. St. Joseph’s 13-8 and Friday a win against SSSA 7-5 to start the IAC season.

 

RUGBY

The Bears beat Gonzaga Home 45-5 after a 26-0 lead at half.

Darion Atkins (’11), Westchester Knicks (NYC Knicks D-League team), ended in 2nd place with a 28-22 record. #5 has played in 50 games (1st on W Knicks) and has averaged 29.6 minutes, 8.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg (3rd), 1.8 apg, 1.0 spg and 1.3 bpg (2nd). (some of the per game stats are skewed the games played) The Dub Knicks lost to the Sioux Falls Sky Force 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals this week.

Joe McDonald (’12), GWU Colonials signed up to be represented by Scott Hettermann (’99) for his future Hoops career.

Sam Anas (’11) Quinnipiac Bobcats, 32-4-7, lost in the NCAA Frozen Four, Tampa, FL.  Sam played in both games there even though he was hurt against Harvard. They beat Boston College 3-2 and against the former Fighting Sioux now a/k/a Hawks, the Bobcats lost 1-5 with their only tally a PP goal in which Sam drew the penalty.

Sam received a lot of positive commentary by the NBC crew; they even wondered aloud how well QU would have done is #7 was not injured. As College Hockey News put it: Anas In Agony Of Defeat

The Bear was named as an All American for the 2nd season in a row.

SPRING SPORTS

Diamond Trax Max Kra (2012), Bucknell Bisons, reliever, 13-19 (4-2 Patriot) team record, went 2-2 for the week by; losing to St. Bonaventure and split with Army. Max is 1-1 in 11 appearances as a reliever for the season.

Sean P. O’Brien (2014), Macalester College pitcher. The Bear is 0-0 in 2 appearances.  Team record for season is 9-5.

Spencer Abraham (2015), Claremont McKenna College Stags, 8-19; in two plate appearances, Spencer has a hit.

Andrew Kvasnicka, (2015) , Swarthmore College,16-10 The rookie  has appeared in 9 games for the Garnet with a hit, a run and an RBI plus he drew 3 walks. Andrew also pitched a complete inning

Garrett Zoukis, (2015) , University of Cincinnati, the Bearcats are 16-15. Lost to Indiana, but swept UConn at Marge Schott Stadium.

Mike Blasey, (2015), Davidson College played at the Irish Creek Collegiate and shot 238.
