Two Bears earned MSWA All-Academic team Honorable Mention– Brendon Gallagher and Ben Goodfriend. Brendon, Brett Gallagher, and Mitchell Pan were elected next year’s captains.

Darion Atkins (’11), Westchester Knicks (NYC Knicks D-League team), is in 2nd place with a 24-18 record. #5 has played in 38 games and has averaged 30.2 minutes, 9.5 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.0 spg and 1.5 bpg.

 

Danny Rubin (‘10) Bnei Hertzeliyya11-11, has played in 18 games, averaging 15.8 minutes, 3.9 points and 1.8 rebounds.

 

  • College

 

Joe McDonald (’12), GWU Colonials are now 23-10. Beat St. Louis 73-65 ; Joe had 37 minutes on the floor, 9 pts.,3 reb.,  10 assists and 2 steals. After a brilliant 1st half, the Colonials led the higher seeded St. Joe’s by as many as 16 points, but the Hawks won 86-80 with Joe’s 31 minutes, 15 pts.,5 Assists,  3 rebounds and 1 steal.  NCAA or NIT will hopefully extend Joe’s career

Chris Hudnut (’11) Colby Mules, was selected to the Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches and Writers Association All-State First Team for the third straight year. Hudnut was the Maine Division III Rookie of the Year and was on the All-Rookie Team as a first-year with the Mules. He has already earned New England Small College Athletic Conference Second Team honors this season.

Aaron Byrd (’15), Augusta University, 18-10, in the 1st round of the Peach Belt Conference tournament, the #2 East seeded Jaguars lost to East’s #1 Lander in the championship game 86-87 in double O/T.. Aaron played 13 minutes with 1 point and 1 rebound.

Ice Hockey

Sam Anas (’11) Quinnipiac Bobcats, is 1-1 in the ECAC tournament with a 5-2 win over Cornell in which Sam had 2 assists and then a 4-5 loss setting up the 3rd game on 3/14 at 4pm. The Bobcats continue to be ranked (as is the QU women’s hockey team).

Jack Barton , Northern Junior Cyclones,25-15-1 (Commit Skidmore)  39 GP, 8G, 21 A The team is 1-1in the playoffs

Chris Javens, Portland Jr. Pirates, 13-27-0 (Commit Skidmore) has played 41 games with 3G and 6A and 97 PIMs. The Pirates won their first playoff game.

Christian Meike, now with the Waterloo Black Hawks (Michigan commit), has played in 38 games (with two teams) and has 2 Gs and 7 As.

Alex Norwinski (’15) and Trevor Wolf (’15) Sugarland Imperials, both Bears wear an A on their sweaters; the team has a 20-20 record Alex has 14 G and 15 A in 45 games; Trevor in 41 games has 2 G and 11 A.

Look who is ranked as the #13 freshman by Inside Lacrosse.

 

Diamond Trax Max Kra (2012), Bucknell Bisons, reliever, 5-6 team record.. The Bison lost to NC State 2-5 and then to Bradley 2-12 Max pitched 2  innings and gave up 2 earned runs, 2 walks and 1 strike out.

Sean P. O’Brien (2014), Macalester College pitcher. Team season begins 3/12 in AZ.

Spencer Abraham (2015) , Claremont McKenna College Stags, 4-12; the team split a double header against Rutgers Newark 7-6 and 5-8. The freshman did not play in either game.

Andrew Kvasnicka, (2015) , Swarthmore College,10-3 The rookie  has one AB for the Garnet and drew a walk. He recorded a catch and a PO in the 3-0 season.

Garrett Zoukis, (2015) , University of Cincinnati, the Bearcats are 5-11 and the Bear has yet to appear.
