Landon Football 0 SSSA 31

The Bears have had the Saints number for at least the last 11 years (available records stop in 2004) during which Landon was 11-0 against the Alexandria. That string stopped today. At the SSSA Homecoming, the football gods sent an early message: the home team scored on the first play from scrimmage, when the visitors had the ball at the beginning of the play.

The Bears turned the ball over and a Saint defender recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown. The score became 9-0 for SSSA when a Landon player was tackled in the end zone for a safety @10:12 of the 1st Q.

The Saints put together an eight play drive and notched a 22 yard field goal to make it 12-0 @ 5:57

The home team took the 2nd half kickoff and drove 80 yards in 10 plays, including a fake punt. SSSA 19 Bears 0

Landon was forced to punt and on the second play intercepted the Saints’ pass on the 2 yard line. Another safety was recorded when a Bear was tackled in the end zone for a 3 yard loss. SSSA 21 Bears 0 @5:08.

Again a Bear DB intercepted a Saint pass and the offense moved the ball for 5 plays. A punt put the ball back in the home team’s hands. A 14 play SSSA drive resulted in another FG; this one from 28 yards. The clock moved into the 4th quarter during this drive; so this tally was registered @ 9:28.

The teams traded the ball and at 4:45 remaining, the visitors had a promising set of downs. Landon once again showed their bad karma by fumbling a ball right into the hands of a Saints’ DB who ran for a touchdown @ 1:40.

The Bears possessed the ball once more, but the Final Score was SSSA 31 Landon 0
