Landon Lacrosse 9 Robinson 3

The Rams (6-2) are one of Northern Virginia’s best high school teams and they feature a top recruit. They were unable to come back from a 5 goal deficit and the Bears earned their 14th victory.

It took a while, but the visitors scored two goals in the first period: Joey Epstein @ 5:05 and then Nate Buller to Colton Rupp for an extra man goal @ 1:43.

END OF 1ST QUARTER BEARS 2 RAMS 0

The next twelve minutes were all Landon. Joey assisted on a goal by Colton @ 8:43. Then on EMO, Joey threaded a pass to Nate who buried it at 4:55. The troika was complete when, again on an EMO, Joey had his 3rd consecutive assist on a feed to Colton @ 3:02.

HALFTIME BEARS 5 RAMS 0

The visitors had their first failed clear and the home team converted the miscue into their first goal at 9:56. Landon responded with a Nate question mark dodge @ 8:13.

This period and the remainder of the game was used by Coach Bordley and his staff to test their young roster. Significant playing time was allocated to (in order of their numbers) Colin O’Brien, Thomas Halm, Drennan Greene, Chase Christensen, Brett Gallagher, John Geppert, Andy Whicker, Justin Shockey, Kennedy Dunn, Vinny Steis and Eriksen Johansen. They showed speed, good stick work, excellent effort for ground balls and all the little things which the coaches look at demonstration that the foundation is there. It should be noted that the Rams were using their first line players throughout the remainder of the game.

END OF 3RD QUARTER BEARS 6 RAMS 1

The home team did not give up and scored twice in the last period—at 9:09 and then at 3:72. In between those to Ram goals, Rob Adkins fed Colton @ 4:44. #4 tallied his 5th goal @ 2:29; his move was reminiscent of his hockey power move. Nate put up the last Landon number on the scoreboard with a goal @ 1:48.

KHARI BATEN “THAT’S A BEAR AWARD

The revered member of the Landon Class of 1990 preferred his end of the field where the D men reside, but he also appreciated the skills of the players with the shorter, shooter sticks. He would have appreciated the night in which

COLTON RUPP

had against the Rams—5 goals.
