St. Ignatius 10 – Landon 8

St. Ignatius from San Francisco came to Landon to show they could play with the east coast teams and proved their point.

First Quarter

St. Ignatius controlled the ball for extended periods taking a 1-0 lead at 8.02 with a feed from behind.

Late in First Quarter Landon evens the score on a feed from Joey Epstein to Nate Buller on the crease.

First Quarter Ends 1 – 1.

Second Quarter

St. Ignatius pulls ahead 2-1 with a goal off a bull dog in the slot at 10.20.

St. Ignatius continues to control the ball and takes a 3-1 lead on a feed to the crease.

Landon finally gets some momentum going on a three goal run starting with a goal by Buller from the crease on a feed from Colton Rupp. This was followed by a goal by Rupp on a feed from Luke Kurtz. The Bears take a 4-3 lead with 4.2 seconds left in half following a caused turnover by the defense, great clear and terrific finish by Rupp.

Second Quarter Ends 4 – 3 Landon.

Third Quarter

St. Ignatius scores first in the second half on a feed to crease at 11.00 to tie the score 4-4.

The Bears follow with an extra man goal by Buller on a feed from Epstein to take a 5-4 lead at 9.07.

St. Ignatius bounces back to tie the score at 5-5 on a fast break goal after a nice defensive steal on a double team at 7.46.

The see-saw continues with the Bears striking again on a feed from Epstein to Buller at 7.00 to take a 6-5 lead.

The Bears finally get a two goal lead on yet another feed by Epstein to Buller at 3.15.

This advantage is short lived as St. Ignatius scores on a shorthanded goal by a defensive player to make it 7-6 with 2.17 to go.

The Bears strike right back at 1.27 on a beautiful sweeping dodge by Buller to take an 8-6 lead.

Third Quarter Ends 8 – 6 Landon.

Fourth Quarter

St. Ignatius outscores the Bears 4 to 0 in the Fourth Quarter. One goal at 8.49 after a turn-over on a procedure call in the offense end followed by St. Ignatius taking advantage of a quick whistle.

Much of the quarter goes by until St. Ignatius goes on a three goal run at the end of the game scoring the game winner with 44 seconds to go the game.

Final Score 10 – 8 St. Ignatius

Landon was kept in the game by Nate Buller’s offensive performance with six goals.

Landon faces Georgetown Prep at home on Friday at 4.30.
