Varsity Hockey

Landon beat a very good Calvert Hall team 3-2 in overtime. The Bears took a 2-0 lead, let that advantage slip away, but came back in Overtime. Tommy Crittenberger had two goals including a sharp angled shot that won the trophy. Great season, 21-5-2, more to come from Sunday team banquet!

LOVE THE BACKGROUND; there was a lot of Landon support.

Varsity Lacrosse

Inside Lacrosse lists them as #15 and Lax Magazine lists them as #6 in Mid-Atlantic.

Danny Rubin, Hapoel Kazrin beat Netayna 86-83; Danny played 24 minutes, scored 8 and had 7 rebounds.

Darion Atkins, UVA basketball (#2) celebrated his Senior Night with a good deal of pre-game publicity(including a quote from Coach Luther), a couple of signature slam dunks, 34 minutes, 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals and an incredibly warm ceremony beating VaTech 69-57 with his Mom and girlfriend by his side!

Coach Bennett’s quote on DA

“Very good effort tonight. I don’t know if he should’ve gotten the T, I guess he pulled up on the rim, I probably lost my cool a little bit on that one, I just didn’t want that moment to be taken away. But, his mobility and becoming effective with his offensive touches and moves is significant. He’s really embraced that defensive stopper to blow up ball screens, block shots, and bother them. He’s really bought in. I’m so proud of him because his story is a really good story. Darion, to wait his turn, and then look at this. I’m not saying he didn’t want to play more early on, but to experience what he has gotten to experience in this last year, I’d think he would say some of the hardship was worth it to be in this spot. Obviously, there is more to go but that means a lot for me. That’s what you coach for, to see those stories happen.”

Joe McDonald, GWU basketball. Against St. Bonaventure, a 69-46 win for the Colonials, Joe set a career-high with five threes on six attempts en route to a game-high 17 points, along with five rebounds and two steals.JMac3

The Davidson game was a disappointing 66-77 loss; Joe started, played 32 minutes, put up 20 points, 4 assists, 0 turnovers, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Anyone listening to the broadcast learned Joe’s name, because the commentators sang his praises almost constantly. It was almost like sitting next to Gabriella.

Chris Hudnut, Colby basketball, is injured, and his team lost two NESCAC games.

YOU CAN VOTE ONCE A DAY HERE for Sam Anas→→ http://www.hobeybaker.com/awards/the-hobey-baker-memorial-award/vote. It would be awesome if Landon would add Hobey Baker Trophy to its existing Tewaaraton Trophy.

Sam Anas, Quinnipiacthe#10 Bobcats beat Harvard 5-2 and Sam had two goals. Against Dartmouth, the visitors lost 1-3, but the sophomore had another goal.

Max Greenwald, Middlebury, lost to Amherst in the NESCAC tournament, bringing the Panthers record to 10-12-3 and Max led the team with 12 assists and 6th in points.

Jack Barton, Northern Junior Cyclones, EHL, won two to end the regular season, but as usual, the team has no stats on its website.

Orlando Arevalo, MIT won with another Engineer in goal.

Bear Lax Trax Busy weekend, so John Nichols’ encyclopedic report is not ready for publication. Austin Dodson stings the corner for the Dickinson Red Devils! And elucidates in the post-game interview.
