BEARS VS. BEARS

Bucknell (Sean O’Brien ’14) 8

Navy (Patrick Keena ’11) 7

Navy and Bucknell played a tight contest yesterday.   The Mids got the first goal of the game, built a two goal lead in the first half, withstood a Bucknell rally to start the second half and were back up by two going into the fourth quarter. Bucknell bounced back again and tied the game. Navy appeared to have quickly regained the lead off of the faceoff, but the goal was wiped out and Navy assessed a 3 minute illegal stick penalty. That call appeared to be a game changer as Bucknell scored 2 goals over the first half of the penalty time. However, Navy killed off the penalty and rallied for two more to tie the game up yet again. The Bison found the way to win with close-in goal with less than a minute remaining.

Patrick Keena had 2 assists on the day plus a ground ball for Navy and Sean O’Brien saw action for the Bison.

Cornell (Will Joyce ’10, Marshall Peters ’13, Jack Bolen ‘14) 16

Hobart (Riley McTague ‘14) 8

Marshall Peters had one shot, five ground balls and one caused turnover as the Big Red, propelled by an 8 goal outburst in the second period, picked up their first win of the 2015 season. Jack Bolen saw action as well.  Below, is a picture of Jack (#16) in last week’s game against Syracuse.

OTHER GAMES

Colgate (Robby Dunnigan ‘13) 12

Lafayette 10

Up 8-2 at the half, Colgate held on to earn their build their record to 3-0, 1-0 in the Patriot League.

Drexel (Hank Brown ’12) 8

Albany 15

It was not just the weather that was ugly in Albany yesterday. The game was marred by 21 penalties totaling 23 minutes, including 8 unsportsmanlike calls and one ejection for fighting. Albany’s prolific offense is back despite the loss of 2 of 3 Thompson’s. Hank had one ground ball for the Dragons and appears to have put a shot on goal in the picture below, but he was not so credited in the stats line.

Johns Hopkins (Sam Lynch ’14) 11

North Carolina 14

The Tar Heels held off Blue Jay rallies in the third and fourth quarter to pick up a key win. North Carolina is now 4-0 while Hopkins drops to 2-2.

Princeton (Justin Murphy Undergrad Asst ’11, Mark Strabo ’12) 14

Hofstra 12

Princeton used a 7 goal run in the third quarter to build what appeared to be a insurmountable lead then had to choke off Hofstra’s 5 goal fourth quarter rally to preserve the victory. Mark was injured and the erudite cognoscenti Quint Kessenich commented in an IL column that the Tigers missed the injured Jack Strabo.

Vermont (Coach Ryan Curtis ‘96) 9

Providence 12

Virginia (Michael Rhoads ’13, Jason Murphy ’13, Brandon Johnson ’14, Jack Falk ‘14) 14

  1. Austin Dodson (dickinson) has been rehabing from minor knee surgery earlier in the year and plans to come back within 2 weeks as a much needed cog in the midfield for the red devils. They have a brutal out of conference schedule including st marys (md), montclair state, and perennial top 5 Cabrini. As a senior, he looks to get back in action and help the devils rebound from their opening day loss to a tough elizabethtown team.
