  • Darion is highlighted in another feature story for the #2 Cavaliers and in the two games of this week started and contributed to the two UVa’s wins
  • Joe and the Colonials won two league games
  • Chris joined the 1,000 point club (35 members) at Colby in a win and then lost a NESCAC game
  • Danny lost to a top team in Israel.

  • Sam is nominated for the prestigious HOBEY BAKEY TROPHY (VOTE) and has two losses, but earned 4 points in those games. He’s #7 in scoring and #1 in PP goals
  • Max started in 2 wins and was named the game’s number one player in the Plattsburg State game
  • Nick Malone was found at Wesleyan
  • Jack scored two goals in his first game since his injury
  • Chris team had a loss and he is listed as inactive.
  • Orlando Arevalo was found at MIT.

Varsity Wrestling

Landon wrestling had a good night notching two victories for the night. The night started with a league victory of the Saints of St Stephens St Agnes. The Bears started strong with 5 victories out of the first 6 matches. Senior Danny Morales earned a forfeit, Ben Goodfriend pinned his opponent in 1 minute, Freshman Brendon Gallagher beat their captain 4-0, and then Miles Franklin won a major decision 13-2. This was all the Bears needed as the Saints forfeited at four other weights, McTague, Witzal, Zulauf and Baker..

The Bears had a successful week with two wins and a tie. They beat Bullis 4-1, beat neighbor Walt Whitman High School 10-1 and tied DeMatha 2-2 in a very hard fought game.

Bear Hoops Trax

Danny Rubin, Hapoel Kazrin, lost to Maccabi H/G 95-91with the Bear playing 31 minutes, scoring 12 points and pulling down 4 rebounds.

Darion Atkins, UVA basketball (UNDEFEATED) , was the subject of a Roanoke Times article about his offensive capabilities. Our #5 started against Clemson in a 65-52 home victory. In 25minutes he had 6 points, 6 rebounds and a steal. The team then faced BC at Chestnut Hill, MA and beat the BC Eagles 66-51 for victory # 17. Darion started, played 24 minutes, scored 8 points (his offensive contributions were noted by the TV announcers), 5 rebounds and 2 blocks.







Joe McDonald, GWU basketball, beat local rival Richmond 73-70 in double overtime. Joe’s played 43 minutes, scored 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. The next game was against another local rival the Patriots of GMU, a 63-53 win. JMac started played 28 minutes, had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.





Chris Hudnut, Colby basketball, beat Hamilton 75-70. Chris had 38 minutes, 26 points (putting him over the 1,000 point mark in 2.5 years, 16 rebounds, and 1 block. Against NESCAC foe Williams, the Mules lost 65-72 at home. Chris started, played 36 minutes, scored 19 points, pulled 6 rebounds, handed out 3 assists and 1steal. They traveled to Connecticut College for another league game. Colby won and Chris in 30 minutes put up a game high 24 points (including 11 for 11 from the foul line), 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.






Bear Ice Trax

A Landon Alum is on the Hobey Baker Ballot. For those who are hockey mavens, the award is considered the Heisman Trophy for hockey. Sam Anas is currently among the top 15 (down from 10 last week) of the 50 nominated.

YOU CAN VOTE ONCE A DAY HERE→→ It would be awesome if Landon would add Hobey Baker Trophy to its existing Tewaaraton Trophy.

Sam Anas, Quinnipiacthe Bobcats had a bad weekend with two losses in a home-and-home series against Merrimac. In the 3-4 loss Sam had two goals and an assist. In the second game he had a PP goal in the 1-3 loss.

Max Greenwald, Middlebury, beat Plattsburg State 3-1 with Max starting and getting an assist (his 10th in 13 games. He was named the Number One player of the away game. The Panthers then beat Norwich 3-0 with another Max assist.






Nick Malone, Wesleyan, has played in 12 games for the Cardinals with 2 two minute penalties. He played in both of their most recent games—a 2-5 loss to Colby and a 3-4 loss to Bowdoin.

Jack Barton, Northern Junior Cyclones, EHL scored two points (1G, 1A) in his return to the lineup in the Cyclones 9-0 win over the Jersey Titans!

Chris Javens, Odessa Jackalopes, lost to Amarillo Bulls 1-4. Chris is now listed as inactive. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS???

Mike Anderson, Princeton Hockey Club played Seton Hall but no results are listed.

Matt Coster ,Cornell, have not received access to the team’s website.

Orlando Arevalo, MIT, has played in goal for the Engineers for two games. There are no reports for the last few games.

Bear Track TraxOliver Hightower, Kenyon Lords ran against OWU and Muskingum. The freshman was 6th in the 60 meters (7.27) 4th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.64). The Kenyon website notes that “the Lords saw freshman Oliver Hightower take fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles (8.64) and sixth place in the 60-meter dash (7.27).” The Lords know talent! Mac Hightower, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ Stags first run on February 6.Deion Wellington, Coastal Carolina’s Chanticleers start January 23. Are there other Bears running winter track?

Swimming and Diving

Jordan Gear, USC, is participating in the Bruin Dive this weekend. No results have been published yet.

John Freeman, Williams, swam in a triangular meet (the Ephmen swept Conn College and Wesleyan.   John swam in the 200 yd. medley relay and came in 6th in the 500 yd. freestyle (4:51.26)
