Landon Lacrosse 12 Saint John’s College HS 11 in overtime

The Bears went out to Alexandria less than 24 hours before this game started and will return to Saint Stephens Saint Agnes at 1pm tomorrow to restart the game suspended by heavy rain/thunder/lightning. The Cadets were completely focused on the Landon game and proved their readiness by outscoring the visitors 4-0 within the 1st five minutes of the initial quarter.

Landon came back to make it 3-5 at the end of the 1st quarter and 6-7 at half. Much credit to SJC for the continuing to fight back down in the 3rd quarter, they tied it 9-9 with 3 minutes left. Landon took an 11-9 advantage into the last quarter and SJC tied it up late in the last regular period.

Jarrett Witzal won the overtime face-off against UVM bound (to be coached by Bear Alumnus Ryan Curtis) Xman and Landon called time out. The set play did not work and the ball came to Colton Rupp who beat his man for his fifth and the team’s winning goal.

The Khari Baten “That’s a Bear” award goes to two seniors whose ground balls, tough defense, speed and energy contributed immeasurably to the win:

Leo Falcone
Luke Kurtz

Plus two underclassmen filled up the scorecard:

Colton Rupp 5Gs 1As
Nat Buller 5As
