The pundits said that the Little Hoyas was a team of the decade and the services list college lax recruits indicate that twenty GP boys (Classes ’14,’15 and ’16) are committed to play at the college level. They have big wins over St. Paul’s and Gilman and the number gurus at LaxPower.com list them as #5 with a 99.63 rating. The younger Bears fell behind, came back, took a lead and eventually lost 7-9.

 

The home team took an impressive lead in the 1st quarter with scores at 9:01, 4:02 and 0:33.2.

The second stanza got off to an auspicious start. Jarett Witzal won the face off when Jack Falk got the ground ball and scored @ 11:47. The home team added two scores (at 6:57 and 6:17) to increase their lead to +4. The Bear offense showed its skill when Sean O’Brien found Nate Buller who quick sticked past the GP goalie @ 5:00. The Hoyas responded with their sixth goal at 3:15. The Bears retaliated with a Sam Lynch goal @2:31.

 

HALFTIME LITTLE HOYAS 6 BEARS 3

 

The beginning of the third quarter was a defensive struggle, but the Bears finally solved the puzzle of the GP defense, Jack Bolen swept past his opponent to score @ 3:42. Then two minutes later (1:43), Colton Rupp fed Sam Lynch who scored.

Landon continued its comeback with a Sam Lynch tying goal @ 9:42. The home team fouled the Bears and then Nate Buller found a cutting Sean for the goal ahead @ 8:43.

 

The senior-laden Little Hoyas tied it at 4:06 and took the lead at 3:14. The final blow occurred when the Bears double-teamed their opponent who split the pressure and put the ball into an empty net.
