Coach Luther resigns his basketball coaching position

Today’s Washington Post includes a story (http://m.washingtonpost.com/sports/highschools/landon-boys-basketball-coach-andy-luther-resigns/2014/03/17/675b505e-adec-11e3-a49e-76adc9210f19_story.html ) that Coach Luther has decided to announce that he will relinquish his position as basketball coach. His teams included Harvard Christian Webster(captain), BC’s Danny Rubin, UVa’s Darion Atkins, GWU’s Joe McDonald (these two teams are headed to the NCAA’s) and Colby’s Chris Hudnut. Under his tutelage, the Bears took home two IAC hoops trophies, but most importantly, his players (win or loss) always played a smart team game and exhibited great class and determination.

The good news for Landon students is Coach Luther will continue in his college-counseling, golf coaching and other duties. Perhaps it is that teacher/mentor/coach relationship which made the Coach’s impact on his boys greater than many other IAC coaches.

Thanks for a great run!
