One of the most impressive statistics about the Landon Lacrosse program is the number of alumni who are selected by their peers. As opposed to all league and other recognitions in which third persons who may or may not know who really contributes to a team’s success, the election

of captains are the exclusive purview of team members and coaches who are most knowledgeable about leadership, contribution and effort. Jack Strabo, who has started as the SSDM (according to IL the most demanding lacrosse position) for every game (except the 1st game) for Princeton, was named as a tri-captain for the 2014 Tigers. A well-deserved honor and there may be other Bear captains for the 2014 season.

Winter Bear Sports

Hoops, Hockey (with at least an 8-2 win over Wootton plus?), Squash, Swimming and Wrestling have started their 2013-2014 seasons with Riflery and Track having their first competition soon. ANYONE (STUDENT, COACH, PARENT, ALUM, FRIEND), WHO WOULD LIKE TO SUBMIT STORIES ABOUT ANY GAME OR MEET OR PERIOD OF THE TEAM’S SCHEDULE, SUCH CONTENT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Unfortunately, the writer of BSN lacks the time and knowledge to write about all sports, but BSN is dedicated to capturing as much information about the boys’ accomplishments in competition and in other endeavors as possible. If for a variety of reasons you are uncomfortable with a byline, worry not such anonymity can be accommodated. Another option is to flag a story about any effort by these athletes in any dimension and BSN will try to publish the thought.

Bear Football

For those outside DC and not connected to Landon’s vastly improved information net, the IAC decided to allow Georgetown Prep to reenter league play in football. They remained members in all other sports. The Sentinel story is linked here
