Bear Sports News—Midweek Report

Full report on BIG win over Episcopal, Three Bears Senior Profiles and Bear Trax of Water Polo.

LANDON SOCCER 3 EPISCOPAL 0

The state of IAC can best be described as competitive. Though the Maroon arrived at Prindle Pitch without a league victory (one tie), the margin of all of those contests was the minimum differential for a loss. “The High School” has two very talented players and a strong support cast. The Bears were buoyed to have senior Nico Sensenbenner  return to the lineup; his ability to move and distribute the ball was noticeable.

The initial minutes of the match involved the typical tests of each other to see where the best points of attack lay. The Bears, as usual, were disciplined and maintained their structure throughout this early period and then put a lot of pressure on the EHS backline. Eventually there was a foul by the visitors in the box. Senior Jack Feldman buried the ball in the opposite as the EHS goalie. BEARS 1 MAROON 0 @ 32:00

After halftime, the Bears’ pressure was rewarded with a corner kick. Jack Feldman found the team captain, Will Olsen, who came forward from his normal defensive position for the set piece and his header added to the margin BEARS 2 MAROON 0 @ 43:00

Jack was not finished and a little later he found junior Adam Robinson streaking up the field and the fast midfielder scored to make it BEARS 3 MAROON 0 @ 56:00

Recognizing that a win was in hand and looking to give some experience to his other players, Coach Reed substituted liberally. If the notes are correct, all but a few field players were tested by the EHS first string and two more Bear goalies were accredited with saves.

FINAL SCORE: BEARS 3 MAROON 0

Bear Water Polo Trax

Proof that Landon is producing water polo players of note are exemplified by these 3 Bears. Rob Spencer and Aidan Kelso are playing for the Connecticut College Camels. Both are major contributors to that program; below are excerpts from the CC water polo site. Carter Lipnick is a goalie for Pomona-Pitzer where he has two saves over the season. PP and CC do not play head-to-head, but there will be a comparative score on 10/16 when Pitzer plays Cal Lutheran which the Camels lost to 8-17.
