Hannah Kroll, correspondent—

There are two USA teams playing- an open team on which Max Greenwald was an initial selectee and a Junior team on which Sam Kroll was a goalie (#31 above?).

Open team: played last night against Israel beating them 14-0 our very own Max Greenwald scored one of the goals. One of the open team goal tenders has concussion which he sustained at a practice and will most likely not be returning to the ice to play, so Sam was asked to suit up for last night’s open game (a 9 pm game) and maybe suiting up again for tonight’s game. He was exhausted this morning and thus did not play in the juniors game but was there to cheer on his team.

Junior team: the Maccabiah USA opened their games up with a very physical game against team Canada. The officials were very one sided, resulting in majority of Maccabiah USA getting to visit the penalty box at some point during their opening game. The refs also added some new penalties such as: slushing (to replace slashing), hooking (pronounced hoooking) and last but not least “the holding of the arm”. Despite losing to team Canada 4-0 Maccabiah USA played a great game.
