The Landon School swept the sprinting events — 100 meters, 200, 400 relay, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles — at last weekend’s Interstate Athletic Conference track and field championships, and it led the Bears to a second-place finish behind St. Albans, which coasted to a 163-122 victory.

Georgetown Prep finished third with 86 points and Bullis took fifth with 57.

Landon’s weekend was highlighted by Malachi Bostic-Wattley, who won the 100 (10.93), 200 (22.20) and anchored the victorious 400 relay (43.35). Oliver Hightower matched his teammate with a clean sweep of the hurdles, winning the 110 hurdles in 16.02 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 41.20.

Others turning in victories for the Bears were Tumi Onaghise (shot put, 41 feet, 2.75 inches) and Jordan Marshall (long jump, 21-09).

Georgetown Prep was led by Ron Busby, who took second in the 200 (22.60) and first in the 800 (2 minutes, 3.25 seconds). Bullis basketball standout Anthony Thompson won the triple jump with his bound of 43-04.50.
