Call for Alumni Lax Players for May 3 game

Every year Landon Alumni play an “All Star” game pitting former All Americans (Div. I and III), All League, stars, captains, hard-working 2nd stringers and exceptional bench warmers (who excelled in other pursuits). It is sort of live museum of  Landon lax legends!

It’s after the Varsity game against StA on May 3 ; so the current lacrosse players always hang on to see their predecessors’ skills albeit at a slightly slower pace or with shots only at 85 mph. The varsity, JV and middle schoolers all look forward to seeing a Leachman or Bordley practice what they preach at practice.

The “contest” is usually quite spirited with  occasional trash talking.  More verbal attacks than cross checking, more high drama than high hits. The rare moment of a sprint is usually followed by a call for oxygen. Fancy stick work abounds and goalies make great saves with greater girth.

Its position within the pantheon of Landon sporting events is the equivalent of a Reverse Shrimp Bowl. In the larger context of sports, it is played with the same intensity as the Pro Bowl in Honolulu, just without the Palm trees.

Rumors that ESPN 5 may send a  unit  to broadcast the game cannot be verified. W*USA may include it on the Friday highlights if they can find any.

Perhaps the best part of this annual ritual is the pregame donning of cleats, pads and helmets with Bear offspring (future Bear stars?) watching their Dads stretch muscles which have not been tested recently.

It is a lot of fun and the camaraderie is real. Old buddies get to relive special moments.

WHAT IS NEEDED IS BODIES!!! Please email George Pappas ( to be included on the roster
