Gilman 14 Landon 6

One of the precepts of writing these reports is to always try to emphasize the positives. Today’s game tested that principle. Gilman came to Bethesda after an unexpected loss to Hereford; they have an impressive roster of big time recruits. They were angry and good. They jumped on the home team and within 2 minutes were ahead four to nothing.

Thereafter, the Bears seemed to lose confidence and to make mistakes that are not usually in their repertoire. Other times, the boys seemed so intent on contributing that the player would try to make a better pass than was necessary or beat the Greyhounds, when there were more opponents. The results were not pretty, but throughout the 48 minutes, the Bears continued to compete. There were moments when you could see that the Bears could play; there just were not enough of them.

Hopefully, the game video will provide good learning opportunities. More importantly, after some post game anger, each player will recognize that he is good, can trust his teammates and will succeed with more confidence in his individual skills and in the collective talent.

Jason Murphy 8 for 14 at the X and 6 GBs
