Bear  Hoops Tracks

Christian Webster ’09 Crimson of Harvard Cornell 67-65 and due to the snow will play Columbia today. Against the Big Red, Christian started, played 39 minutes, scored 17 points, pulled down 6 boards(team leading), had 2 assists and had 1 block.

Danny Rubin’10, BC Eagles lost to the Hurricanes of Miami played 13 minutes (a season high) to earn 3 points. The team plays Duke on national TV today.

Darion Atkins ’11, UVa, was on the bench (not ready to play yet?) as the Cavaliers crushed the Tigers of Clemson 78-41. He did make the UVa Hoops FB page with this celebratory picture:

DA v Clemson

Darion traveled to the Comcast Center today  and beat the Terps.

Joe McDonald ’12 and the GWU Colonials played the #14 Butler Bulldogs to a tough 59-56 loss.  Joe started, played 29 minutes, scored 10 points, had 4 rebounds and had  1 assist. Joe had a tough 3 point opportunity at 0:14 that would have tied the game, but he missed. There were two other Colonial opportunities late in the game.

Chris Hudnut ’11and his Colby Mules have been snowed under literally. The schedule shows two games for today.

Bear Lax Trax Fax

In the LaxPower boards discussion of Penn’s scrimmage yesterday, one poster noted 2 goals scored by Will Laco.

From BLTF star reporter’s eye evaluation–Kellen Miller got some good time at LSM and close D too

At the UVa-Georgetown lax scrimmage, Alex Joyce played a quarter and had a couple of spectacular saves along with a number of standard fare.

From IL  on Princeton….

“Who’s On Defense?

So, who among the current defensive lineup will be asked to step up and help rebuild a unit that allowed just 7.25 goals per game last year?Look for junior Derick Raabe to be the veteran anchor of the unit. He played in 20 games last season scooping 20 groundballs. Junior shortstick defensive midfielder Nick Fernandez is making the move to a longpole position. Bates believes his athleticism and lateral movement will be helpful there; he’s “making good progress” with the longpole. Junior Rob Posniewski and freshmen Mark Strabo and Brian Pickup are also fighting for minutes in the early going.

Another few guys to watch: The 6-7, 210-pound Alex Beatty will push for time with the LSM crew. SSDMs Jack Strabo and co-captain Chris White should help anchor that line.

Best Bet: Bobby Lucas, F/O

The veteran face-off man finished with a 56% success rate last season, good enough for No. 17 in the nation. Bates says Lucas is tough and mechanically sound. Princeton’s Justin Murphy and the Froccaros will help provide support there.”

To help track the Bears playing lacrosse,  all of the boys playing Div I and III lacrosse are “liked” on my FaceBook page. If you want to see what the schools have included in their profiles, you can either look at the links on my FB page or like them yourself.
