LANDON HOCKEY 11 RP 2

One hypothesis is that it was the inspiration from their raising $57,264 for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s National Medical Center (you can still donate @ https://www.firstgiving.com/bebraveandshave/landon ). Another rational is the enthusiasm from the standing room only Bear fans (including much of the basketball team) inspired them. One thought was that it was Coach Gammill’s Be Brave buzz cut. Maybe the Bears were Jacked Up! [see below].

Whatever it was the home team scored early and often on a way to an 11-2 victory over the team from Rockville Pike!

The little  Hoyas must have wondered whether the shears used to cut their hair had some Sampson-Delilah impact for the Bears scored on their first shot.  Jones Lindner made a sweet pass for D Jack Sears who blasted a shot from the point with which Graham Shue redirected for a goal ONLY 0:46 expired off the clock B 1 LH 0.

Landon was found to have fouled one of the RP players and the visitors were granted a powerplay. After working the puck for a minute of their advantage, the visitors saw Jack Barton steal a puck at the top of the Landon defensive zone and break away to score a shorthanded goal against the RP goalie @ 8:40 B 2 LH 0

[perhaps the Bears were JACKED up with  2 different Jacks involved in the 1st 2 scores!]

It is easy to relax with a two goal advantage, but senior leadership reminded the Bears that consistent aggressive play was key to winning. The young guys, Brian Jordan cleared the puck to Jones who head manned it to senior Will Buckingham who buried it @ 0:34.8 B 3 LH 0

END OF 1ST PERIOD B 3 LH 0 (Shots on Goal B 14 LH 5)

Jack Sears continued with his energy—netting a goal with an assist from JunMo Kim @ 12:02 B 4 LH 0. The RP boys were found to have violated the rules and one of their players was detained in the penalty box; with that advantage the Junior Jack started a scoring play with a pass to Captain Graham  who moved the puck to Colton Rupp, who was able to maintain his position in front of the RP goal, and redirect the disc to the back of the opponents’ net @9:07 B 5 LH 0

The boys from RP tried to reverse the trend by scoring two consecutive goals @ 8:55 and then @ 7:19 (a powerplay goal), but that was their only scores B 5 LH 2

Graham with a beautiful pass from Jack Barton reestablished the Landon momentum with another goal on a 2 on 1 breakaway @ 6:16. Within the next two minutes the Bears recreated heavy lead with Brian Jordan’ s breakaway blast @ 5:19 and  another assault of the RP goalie based on John Wellington’s moving the puck to Satchel Clendenin for a goal @ 4:01

END OF 2nd PERIOD B 8 LH 2

After eight minutes, Satchel added another goal with assists by Tommy Crittenberger and Jack Barton @ 7:00. Jones returned to the scorebook @ 5:07; this time aided by JunMo. With a running clock (under IAC rules a seven goal differential, no stops to try to hold down the score), Jacob Ruttenberg made an exceptional pass up ice to Will who blasted an 11th Bear goal @ 0:16.2
