Bear Ice Tracks

Sam Anas’ Youngstown Phantoms had split two games against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

Max Greenwald’s Middlebury hockey team (#14 Div III) had three games, losses to the Babson Beavers 2-1 and Trinity Bantams 2-1, but wins against the Wesleyan Cardinals 4-3 and Wentworth Leopards 3-2 with Max getting his 1st college goal, meriting a picture of this Bear alumni.


Bear Hoops Tracks

Christian Webster, Senior Guard, Harvard—the Crimson had a 2 game West Coast trip –against the California Bears, our Bear started, played 36 minutes/8 points/4 rebounds/1 assist in a 67-62  victory; against  the Gaels of St. Mary’s, started,  played 35 minutes,had 3 points, pulled down 3 rebounds, handed out 1 assist. Home against the Rice Owls, he started, had 32 minutes, 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Danny Rubin, junior guard, Boston College—The Eagles beat the Crusaders of Holy Cross 70-60 and the Big Green of Dartmouth 79-58, but lost to the Wolfpack of NC State 78-73

Darion Atkins—sophomore forward, UVa—the Cavaliers beat the Terriers of Wofford 74-39. Coach Bennett obviously rested his starters; the leading scorer did not start. Darion started and played only 4 minutes. After his Mom watches the NFC East Champion Redskins play (begrudgingly, Ms. Atkins loves the Dallas team), Darion will be playing the Tar Heels

Joe McDonald—freshman guard, GWU—the Colonials beat the Pioneers of Sacred Heart 77-39; Joe started, played 24 minutes with 10 points,  7 rebounds, 4 assist and 4 steals. At Athens, GA, against the UGa Bulldogs, he started, played 29 minutes, had 2 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist. Joe’s play against the Pioneers was highlighted with the inclusion of his picture on the GWU hoops website.


Chris Hudnut—freshman forward, Colby—the Mules played the Pride of Springfield College (where Naismith invented hoops) and lost 75-57; Chris had 7 points and a team lading 4 rebounds. Colby rebounded in the next game against the Hawks of Roger Williams 74-50 and in this game the Bear alumnus has a team leading, collegiate high 24 points (11-16 from the field) and had 8 rebounds. Chris (pictured below) is the Mules leading scorer with11.5 points @ game.
