Joe McDonald named to prestigious Parade All American Basketball team

Parade Magazine’s panel of experts names an All American Basketball team. Joe McDonald is one of the elite 40 players selected for that honor. Joe was also a two time WaPo 1st team All Met, three time Gazette All County, all IAC more than once and team co-captain. Joe will be playing for the George Washington Colonials next year.

Landon’s Fred Hetzel, 1961, was also a Parade AA before his career with the Davidson Wildcats and the NBA.

Against Episcopal High School (whose squad includes a future teammate of Joe at GWU), he scored a school record of 49 points while also grabbing 18 rebounds,6 assists and a 3 point shot at the buzzer that put the game into overtime.

Joe also played football this fall and showed real talent (HM All Met) as a wide receiver!
