Bears vs. Bears

Just one Bears vs. Bears contest this past week—Denver (Harrison Archer) beat Hobart (David Chakola) 15-8 Saturday.  Harrison Archer had 1 goal and 1 assist on 12 (!) shots, 6 of which were on goal, and one ground ball.

Other Games

North Carolina (Will Leighton-Armah) was the headline grabber this weekend, upsetting #1 ranked and previously undefeated Johns Hopkins 13-9 in the final game of the Big City Classic Sunday.

Duke (Josh Offit) picked up a pair of wins this week, first beating Brown 9-8, then taking down Syracuse 12-10 in the second game of the Big City Classic.  Josh had 1 goal on 3 shots plus 1 ground ball in the Brown game then followed that up with 1 goal, 1 assist, and 1 caused turnover versus Syracuse.

Bucknell (Sam McDonough) continued their winning ways, with a 9-6 win over Penn State and 10-9 victory over Holy Cross.  Sam recorded a ground ball in each game.

Princeton (Mike Grossman, Jack Strabo, Brian Reilly, Justin Murphy) got an Ivy League win, 13-2 over Brown.  Mike scored a goal on 3 shots, 2 on goal and earned 2 ground balls.  Jack Strabo got off a shot and had 2 ground balls.

Cornell (Joe Paoletta and Will Joyce) downed Dartmouth 7-5.  Joe was credited with a ground ball and a caused turnover.

Penn (Will Laco) lost a 10-9 decision to Yale

Ohio State (Luke Howard) lost to the undefeated Loyola Greyhounds, 8-7

Maryland (Kellen Miller) dropped a 12-8 decision to UVA.

Navy (Matt Morrison) fell to Lehigh 9-4.

Georgetown (CT Fisher) beat Lafayette 8-5.

Vermont (Coach Ryan Curtis) fell to Stony Brook, 13-5.

This Coming Week

 

There are two Bear vs. Bear games on the horizon—Maryland (Kellen Miller) takes on Navy (Matt Morrison) on April 6, then on the 7th, Hobart (David Chakola) battles Ohio State (Luke Howard).

 

North Carolina’s (Will Leighton-Armah) prize for knocking off #1 Johns Hopkins this past week is that they get to take on the new #1, UVA.

 

Cornell (Joe Paoletta and Will Joyce) takes on Harvard in a Big Red vs. Crimson duel.

 

D-III

 

Tufts (Nick Rhoads and Mark Findaro) lost to Trinity 9-8 in a battle of Jumbos vs. Bantams.  Nick was dominant at the X again, winning 15 of 21 faceoffs and gathering up 5 ground balls.  Mark Findaro was also a ground ball machine, scooping up 5 himself, and also getting off 3 shots and causing 2 turnovers.

 

Gettysburg (Austin Dodson and Wes Lincoln) picked up a pair of wins, beating Widener 9-6 on Wednesday, then downing Swarthmore 8-7 on Saturday.  Austin had 2 goals on 7 shots in the Widener and then 1 goal and 1 assist on 5 shots in the Swarthmore contest.  Wes Lincoln had two more solid games at the X, winning 11 of 17 faceoffs against Widener and 14 of 20 against Swarthmore.

 

Ohio Wesleyan (Tommy Minkler) recorded one goal on 3 shots in the Battling Bishops loss to Denison.

 

Washington & Lee (Will Raul) won one this week and lost one, losing 8-4 to Williams the downing Randolph 21-2.

 

Dickinson (Marek Laco) down Haverford 10-4.

 

Sewanee (Drew Hayhurst) fell to Center College, 10-9.
