GP 3 Landon 2

The Bears ran into a hot goalie, PJ McNamara, who had won seven straight games. Tonight, VERY unofficially the big goalie blocked 41 Landon shots. A two initial first name is also associated with the home team’s leading scorer, AJ Taylor; he had three goals tonight (the last on an empty net).

After a scoreless 1st period, it was anticipated that the Landon depth would have its impact on the little Hoyas. Unexpectedly, the home team got the initial goal at 2:17. The Bears responded 15 seconds later with a Jack Barton to Max Greenwald goal.

As the teams left this ice at the end of the 2nd period, the scoreboard registered that the Bears would start the last period with a player in the penalty box. After 1:06 of the penalty had been killed, AJ scored his second goal. The referees signaled that the visitors would have to serve a second two minute penalty. The Bears killed that penalty but whatever momentum that might have favored them was squandered by these back-to-back penalties.

The game moved uneventfully to 2:00 remaining on the clock. After the GP coach called a time out, the Bears assembled 5 forwards who were among their most able scorers. At 1:24 remaining, the referees called a penalty against the home team, creating a 5 on 4 advantage for Landon. Unfortunately, the puck ended on AJ’s stick again and at 0:26.0, he earned his hat trick. The Bears did not concede a loss and at 0:07.1 Max Greenwald netted his second goal with an assist from Matt Potolicchio.

FINAL SCORE LITTLE HOYAS 3 BEARS 2; very unofficial SoGs (the sight lines were bad), B 43, H 19
