Bear Ice and Hoops Trax

Thanks to the readers of BSN for feeding good information and pictures of Bear alumni.

One of the early harbingers of the 2010-2011 success of the Landon hockey team was the conquering of the opposition in the Westchester, PA Iceline Christmas Hockey Tournament. During previous participation in this event, the Bears were tested by tough teams. Last December, Landon went undefeated. Thanks to Tracy Wellington, here is a picture of the banner recognizing the Bears’ victory:

It is not every common for a DC high school hockey team to play a select team from the Ukraine. That event at the Bears’ Den was so interesting that it drew 6 alumni to watch the match; see Messrs. Coster, Wellington, Anas, Shue, Joyce and Buckingham who were there to support their brother Bears (picture courtesy of Pam Potolicchio)

Hoops Trax

The Bear alumnus, Chris Hudnut, is getting more ink for his play with Lawrenceville basketball team. The Captain of the Big Red, headed to Colby College, is featured in the The Trentonian,, though one of his teammates had more points AND the opposing team player’s Dad is in the Baseball Hall of Fame.It must be the gravitas that Chris has gained after gaining of weight! In any event, it’s great seeing this Bear getting due attention.

The stories on tomorrow night’s hoops game @ WaPo #6 Episcopal and the hockey team’s match will be first posted at as early as 9pm TU; The BSN version will be distributed on 1/11 about 7pm.
