Ukraine game

LANDON 5 UKRAINE 95 0

In what appeared to be Landon’s toughest opponent so far, the Bears beat our guest form the Ukraine 5-0. Landon’s record now stands at 5-0. You can tell that the Ukraine team has played together and were well coached, but the Bears defense only allowed 11 shots, as the Bears goalie tandem of Sam Kroll and Alex Joyce protected our net.

The standout player of the game could only go to Graham Shue. “” Shue recorded 2 goals and 2 assist, which very well could be a personal career high. Graham was highly motivated for this game, with alumnus and older brother, Blake Shue in attendance, Blake was ready with his “elderly brother advice”, but Graham just didn’t want to hear it! He showed big brother that there is only one Shue at Landon, and his name is Graham!! (Lets not forget the great contributions and generosity of his parents over numerous years). Graham was also cheered on by family members from as far as Memphis, Tennessee. So to Graham we say, great job but we have no money in the budget for the family cheering section, but the team is expecting more of the same!

The forward line of Greenwald, Shue and Lackner accounted for 4 of the 5 goals. The defensive unit killed off 3 penalty kills and once again the opponent cannot seem to get quality shots.

The Landon team is still improving, with the most competitive part of the season to come. Here is our schedule for the first week in January:

January 4, 2012 vs St Albans @Rockville 4:30PM
January 6, 2012 vs DeMatha @Rockville 6:25PM

The team would greatly appreciate your support in attendance if possible. The players love playing in front of their family, friends and teachers and besides, the price of admission is free! Definitely cheaper than a Caps game.

The Varsity Hockey Team wishes everyone a great holiday season. Enjoy your break, but the real fun begins in January.
