McDonogh 35-Landon 3

Suffice it to say that playing against a roster with 24 players at 200 pounds or more, the Bears has an uphill battle. Two of the Eagle linemen have committed to play ACC football and one of them should acquaint himself with principles of the Marquis of Queensberry.[NOTE: it’s probably a good predictor of a school’s intensity of its program when its home scoreboard includes a 20’x30′ LED TV screen.]

The game started auspiciously with the Bears making an excellent try at an onside kick and it looked as though the visitors had recovered. The referees gave the home team possession.

First and ten for McDonogh team at their own 47. After two runs, the Eagles QB had a flashback to his 1st pass against Landon in 2010 and threw the ball to Deion Wellington.

Landon had a five play drive, punted and forced the Eagle O to punt after 3 plays.

Landon took possession at its own 43. The highlight was a Charlie Schnider to Joe McDonald 36 yard pass completion. Three Myles Allen runs in this drive contributed to a 25 yard field goal by Alexander Mockett.

Bears 3 Eagles 0 at 2:36 remaining in the first quarter.

The remainder of the game, on an unmercifully cold and windy day, was dominated by the Eagles. Their running attack was spearheaded by senior Colby Everett, #28, a 6′ 230#,) who was able to break too many tackles.

Three quarters later, the scoreboard read Eagles 35 Visitors 3.

Tomorrow will bring several Bear Trax reports plus two nice photographs of alumni playing at the next level. The report will list the results of opponents’ games. Sandy Murdock
