Landon Invitational Cross Country Meet; Bear team comes in second

Coach Hunt invited 13 boys teams (134 runners)  and 17  girls teams (more than 200 runners) to compete on the Landon CC course on September 24. {Mary Lee Banfield, it was rumored, sat up in her grave at the sight of such a coed ed event on her sacred grounds! 🙂  }

The Bears came in second in the Brown Division behind Potomac Falls by only 12 points and an average of 8.6 seconds. Mac Hightower (no relation to the Redskins’ player?) was the 1st Bear to cross the line, the 6th LICC competitor and in 17:39 (only 0:25 behind the leader). The next Bears were Henry Duncan and William Kuhn ( 12th and 13th respectively; only 0:09 between them) followed by #16 Brian Liu (18:18). Adam Brill, Harrison Voslow and Samuel Fox completed the home team’s performance. The opponents included SSSA, WCAC teams (Bishop Ireton,Paul VI, DeMatha, St. John’s) MAC (Flint Hill, St. Andrews) and other conferences.

In the White Division, Bears (Kevin Soraci and Josh Michael, [both at 19:27]) crossed the finishing line first and second, but the team placed 3rd behind St’ John’s and Maret.

The Potomac Falls girls team equaled the boys by winning the Brown 5K run (sister school Holton was 11th in a 13 team field). The Dunbar’s girls won the 5K run in the White Division (sister school Holton Arms was 9th).

The coed 5K fresh persons run was won by Potomac Falls again.
