Lax Power has reported scores in the MIAA/IAC/DC games since March 6th; the total is well over 130 games. There is only one game in which a team scored 0, ZERO, NO goals. Much credit is due to Alex Joyce, Alex Povich, Mark Strabo, Sellers Garrett and a number of other Bears. Some question must be raised about the Bulldogs’ strategy, recording 3 shots in the 1st half and a total of eight for the game. At some point, say at the end of the 3rd quarter, with the score 3-0 in favor of the visitors, maybe it would make some sense to change tactics.
The first quarter was scoreless with the Bears taking 4 shots and StA 1 directed towards the Bear goal. When the Bulldogs would gain possession, the white clad players would pass the ball outside of the restraining box for minutes and rarely move the player with the ball towards the Landon D. When the Brown jerseys had the ball in their offensive zone, the Bulldogs played smartly, putting an LSM on the Bear middies and shutting off the other O threats.
END OF 1ST Q BEARS 0 BULLDOGS 0
Midway through the second period, Bear attackman Taylor Valencia got the ball at X, drove toward the goal and found a cutting Matt Potolicchio in front of the goal. #9 buries the shot at 6:10.
HALFTIME BEARS 1 BULLDOGS 0
Sam Lamson won the face off to start the next period and the ball moved quickly to Hank Brown who drove down the alley and passed to Taylor who then bounced the ball under the StA goalie’s stick at 11:05. The Bears led trebled at 4:44 on a drive by Hank down the alley and his shot was behind the home goalie before he knew that #15 had shot.
END OF 3rd Q BEARS 3 BULLDOGS 0
The last quarter was equally lethargic (the StA bench command included “patience” on both ends of the field and caused reference to the definition of that word, to wit “the state of endurance under difficult circumstances”). The highlight of this last period was a nifty pass from Garrett Fellows to Jack Falk for a goal at 5:16.
FINAL SCORE BEARS 4 BULLDOGS 0
